Baramulla: Unknown gunmen shot dead three youths on Monday evening near Khanpora bridge, one of the four bridges that lead into old town Baramulla. Panic gripped the area and shopkeepers in Iqbal Market and near the Uri bus stand on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway ran for safety when heavy gunfire was heard around 8:30pm. When police and army reached the spot, they found three youths lying in a pool of blood near Khanpora bridge.
Police sources said that all three were dead before the arrival of police.
The identity of the slain could not be confirmed immediately but local sources said that all the three were residents of old town Baramulla.
Local sources identified the slain as Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Mohmmad Asgar.
