SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir National Front on Monday said the incarceration of its chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan and other resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Bita Karate, Pir Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Mairaj din Kalwal, Shahid ul Islam and a businessman Zahoor Watali is nothing but political vendetta.
In a statement, National Front spokesperson said all these and other prisoners who have been lodged in far off jails in state or outside JK must be shifted to valley jails so that their kith and kin could meet them easily.
“Even Indian Supreme Court has ruled many a times to lodge prisoners in their nearest jails however, even the directions of Supreme Court are being ignored to crush the freedom struggle of Kashmir,” he said.
Terming the plight of Kashmiri prisoners as “seriously alarming”, the spokesperson alleged that jail authorities subject the inmates to inhuman treatment. He stressed upon the human rights organisations to play their role in getting the Kashmiri prisoners out of the jails.
The Front also appealed to international community to intervene in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people.
Expressing anger and anguish over fresh killings in Drubgam, Pulwama, the spokesperson said if New Delhi is sincere that the ongoing bloodshed should end, it must initiate a political process to end the long-pending Kashmir dispute.
