SRINAGAR: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Monday termed the statement of new deputy CM Kavider Gupta as shameless.
In a statement issued here, Rasheed said, “The shameless words of Kavinder Gupta immediately after taking oath by downplaying Kuthua rape and murder case have shaken everybody.”
Gupta, according to media reports, on Monday termed the rape and murder of a minor in Kathua as a “small incident” which shouldn’t have been given much hype.
Rashid said that Gupta’s claim deserves condemnation. “Appeasing pro-Hindu Ekta Manch forces was the only purpose of cabinet reshuffle. It is obvious now that induction of Rajiv Jasrotia into Cabinet and Kavinder Gupta’s insulting words have exposed both BJP and PDP.”
Asking chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to clear her stand on Rajiv Jasrotia’s induction in cabinet, Independent MLA said his induction has “exposed” the coalition government’s claims of taking a moral ground over Kuthua rape and murder case.
Rasheed said if BJP ministers Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash were sacked from the cabinet for their participation in Hindu Ekta Manch’s rally, the role of MLA Kuthua Rajiv Jasrotia was even “worst”.
“The fact of the matter is that MLA Kuthua Rajiv Jasrotia and MLA Samba Kuldeep Raj were instrumental in getting Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash to the Ekta Manch rally,” Rasheed said.
“PDP leaders including chief minister who were taking credit for sacking the two ministers supporting Ekta Manch rally, stand exposed and their helplessness is evident,” he added. Rasheed asked Mehbooba Mufti to clear her stand over the issue or she must restrain from “lying and misleading” people.
“By inducting main supporter and organiser of Hindu Ekta Manch in the cabinet, BJP has not only encouraged those supporting killers of Kathua minor but has in a way reaffirmed the communal and fringe elements their full support and Mehbooba Mufti seems to have made yet again a shameless surrender,” Rasheed added.
