Mehfil-e-Sufiyana at Tagore Hall concludes

SRINAGAR: Two day ‘Mehfil-e-Sufiyana’ function organised by North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages concluded here at Tagore Hall.
According to a statement, Ustad Mushtaq Ahmad Saznawaz and Irfana Yousuf along with their parties embellished the occasion with their grandeur performances.
The speakers while stressing on the inner increasing threat to folk arts, said that youngsters should understand the value of culture and heritage. They said the Sufiyana music has always had a selective audience that must constantly strive towards promotion of such gatherings.
Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, consultant NZCC J&K, hailed the joint initiative of Cultural Centre and Cultural Academy and stressed upon the need of conducting many such activities, not only in the field of music, but theatre, visual arts and literature as well.
Sheikh Basharat, Executive Engineer R&B was chief guest on the occasion. He emphasized on the promotion of cultural activities especially Sufiyana music.
Audiences were mesmerised by the performances presented by the performers.
