Srinagar: Two Hizbul Mujahideen commanders, Sameer Tiger and Aqib Khan have been killed in Drubgam gunfight, sources said.
They said that Sameer, a resident of Drubgam and Aqib a resident of Rajpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district were well known faces of Hizbul Mujahideen.
The encounter had started after forces cordoned off Drubgam village early today.
Locals tried to disrupt the forces operation and pelted them with rocks resulting in clashes near the gunfight site.
A 15 year old boy, Shahid Ahmad was killed in the clashes. At least 18 others sustained injuries in forces action against protesting civilians.
Two Army personnel, including an officer also sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight with militants.
Forces had pressed helicopters in service against the hiding militants.
