ANANTNAG: Eleven sheep were killed by a speeding truck in south Kashmir’s Qazigund area when the owner was flocking them towards Anantnag, police said on Saturday.
Police officials told Kashmir Reader that the incident took place on Friday evening when Gulzar Ahmad Poswal resident of Chutti Jammu was on his way to Anantnag when the speeding truck ploughed over his herd near Qazigund.
“The family was moving on foot on Anantnag road along with Srinagar-Jammu highway with their sheep and goats were killed by a truck,” an eyewitness said.
Police said that a truck bearing registration number JK04A-8140 coming from Jammu to Srinagar hit and run over a herd of sheep on the Srinagar-Jammu highway at Lower Munda area of Qazigund in which 11 sheep were crushed to death and many others were injured.
Police said that the driver of the truck was arrested and vehicle has been seized.
A case FIR No 99/2018 has been registered in this regard.
