POONCH: Continuing series of programmes under road safety week, Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) on Saturday convened an awareness-cum-medical cum for drivers and conductors at bus stand Poonch.
Present on the occasion were ARTO Abdul Raheem, Dy.SP HQ Shahid Nayeem besides officials of MVD and traffic police. Team of specialist doctors was deputed by the Chief Medical Officer Mumtaz Bhatti for medical checkup of drivers and conductors.
Locals including drivers and conductors participated in the awareness cum medical camp wherein free medical services like sugar test, eye sight and colour blindness check, blood pressure check were provided among drivers and conductors.
The participants were also made aware by ARTO and other officers about traffic rules and regulations which are necessary to prevent road accidents. Discussions were organised wherein the ARTO responded to the queries raised by the drivers and transporters.
He called upon them to understand the responsibility of safe ferrying of passengers from place to another and abstain from overloading and drunken driving, two major causes of road accidents.
