Baramulla: A government school teacher in Kreeri area of Baramulla district was arrested by police for allegedly raping a student at her home during tuition hours.
A police officer said that on April 15 police received an information that the teacher along with a minor girl has reached SDH Pattan for want of abortion on the girl.
He said, on enquiries, it surfaced that the girl was not his wife and that he was taking her illegally to hospital for abortion.
Police handed over the girl to his parents and the teacher was put behind bars for further investigation, he said.
During investigation, police said, the teacher posted as an RRT at a government school confessed that he was teaching a class 11 girl at her home after school hours during which they grew intimate. A case under FIR number 22/2018 U/S 376,315/RPC has been registered against the teacher in Police Station Kreeri.
Sources said that accused is on remand and the police would file charge sheet in a few days.
The family of victim refused to talk to media.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla Abdul Ahad Ganie told Kashmir Reader that the accused teacher has been suspended. “Yes the accused teacher has been placed under suspension till further orders” CEO said.
