Srinagar: Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Srinagar hosted 2-days annual 22nd Postgraduate Research Presentation Programme (PGRPP) on Friday at SKIMS Auditorium.
Director, SKIMS & ex-officio secretary to government Prof. Omar Javed Shah presented an unprecedented enthusiasm for this research academic activity and provided all necessary support to the host department of General and Minimal Invasive Surgery in organizing this important academic event.
Prof. Abdul Hameed Zargar, ex-director, SKIMS and endocrinologist of global repute was the Chief Guest on the inaugural Ceremony. He highlighted the need and importance of quality research like iodine deficiency, Shahaan’s Syndrome, hyperkalemia done by the SKIMS department of endocrinology, which proves a game changer in changing the scenario of cretinism, Sheehan’s & other disorders.
Prof. Khursheed Iqbal, ex-dean SKIMS and a cardiologist of international repute stressed on the futuristic views that SKIMS, which is also a deemed University should adopt necessary measures to increase postgraduate and postdoctoral seats in order to serve the community with more vigour and enthusiasm.
At least 80 research papers and 40 posters were presented by postgraduate students in front of learned faculty and some of the research papers were of high caliber and were appreciated by one and all. The Postgraduate Scholars with best papers and best posters will be felicitated on valedictory function.
