Police arrest LOC resident with 800 gms of brown sugar

Baramulla: Police on Friday said that they arrested a person in Uri along with 800 grams of brown sugar.
Police identified the accused as Nazir Ahmad Teehkray son of Mohammad Maqbool Tehkray of Jabda,Kamalkote Uri .
Police said that the consignment was smuggled from Pakistan and the accused lives in the close vicinity of LOC, police said.
They said a case FIR Number 40/2018 under sections of 8/20 NDPSA has been registered in Police Station Uri and Investigation has been taken up.
In the recent months, Police has apprehended many drug smugglers from the area and were booked under Public Safety Act.
Police is determined to wipe out all gangs and modules that are smuggling drugs from Pakistan with the active support of some elements across LOC, a police statement said.
Meanwhile a man was arrested today after six grams of heroin was recovered from his possession, police said.
During checking at Gujjar Nagar, the police intercepted a pedestrian and seized six grams of heroin from his possession.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC was registered against him, the police added.
