Chief Secretary reviews progress under SBM, PMAY

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary BB Vyas on Fridayconvened a meeting at Jammu to review the district wise performance under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and the progress made on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the State.
Financial Commissioner HUDD KB Agarwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner Secretary RDD, Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners from all districts participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
During the meeting, the CS was apprised of current status on implementation of the SBM in each district.
With regards to SBM (Gramin), it was informed that till date 2,93,462 Individual Household Toilets (IHHTs) have been constructed in the State, since Prime Minister’s review of the flagship Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) – Gramin (G) programme.
It was informed that District Pulwama was recently declared Open Defaecation Free (ODF), taking the number of ODF districts in the state to 5. Further, districts Anantnag and Kupwara are currently at 99.48% and 97.63% respectively and are expected to be declared ODF within a few days. The Geo-tagging of the units in the state as on date is at 63.24%
Taking note of the considerable progress marked in SBM (G) since the last review, the CS congratulated District Administrations and directed the districts lagging with their targets to gear up and work in mission mode to ensure achievement of their targets within the stipulated timelines.
He further directed the district administrations to put additional focus and undertake parallel works for Geo-Tagging of units, Verification and for uploading the financials on MIS regarding the SBM (G).
The CS also directed for constitution of interdepartmental teams to support RDD in verification of assets being constructed under SBM.
The meeting also took note of the progress on construction of Community Sanitary Complexes being constructed along the Amarnath Route in various districts. The CS was informed that the works are underway and are expected to be completed within a fortnight.
While reviewing the progress on SBM (Urban), the CS directed the district administrations to pick up the pace under the scheme and monitor the progress on a weekly basis. He directed them to develop a detailed strategic plan so that the works under the scheme can be carried out in a phased manner.
He also directed the DCs to identify land for construction of Community toilets as required in various districts.
The CS also reviewed the progress under PMAY and directed the executing agencies to expedite the works and submit regular progress reports to ensure time bound completion of the projects.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary convened a meeting with senior officers to discuss multiple developmental issues of Reasi district pertaining to various departments including Health, Planning, PDD, PWD (R&B), Forest, PHE, Floriculture among others.
During the meeting, deliberations were held on various ongoing and upcoming projects being undertaken in the district.
