SRINAGAR: As part of 29th National Road Safety Week celebrations, Motor Vehicles Department today organised Helmet Rally from the University of Jammu, which was flagged of by Transport Commissioner Saugat Biswas.
More than 150 bikers from different biker’s club participated in the rally which also included those who had come on open invitation by the Department. One female biker Preeti Choudhary from Jammu also participated in the rally.
The rally which started from University Ground passed on through Qasim Nagar Chowk, Batra Hospital Road, Sidhra, Panjthirthi, Prade, Vivekanand Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Vikram Chowk, Main Stop, Police lines Ambedkar Chowk, Police HQ Chowk and culminated at University Ground.
Speaking on the occasion, Transport Commissioner informed that Department is conducting the Road Safety Programmes throughout the week and theme of today’s rally was chosen as Helmet Rally to show the concern of the Department that how important it is to wear helmet for our safety. He said that rally which passed through main Bazars of Jammu city shall seek attention of peoples so that habit of wearing helmet is imbibed in all in general and young bike riders in particular.
SSP Traffic Jammu Joginder Singh also participated in the function and made strong appeal to all Bike/Scooter riders to wear helmet for their own safety. RTO Jammu Deep Raj thanked all the participants in augmenting the efforts of the Departments for the cause of Road Safety. The function was attended by ARTO, Jugal K Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Shafqat Majeed, Pawan Sharma, MVI’s and other staff members of the Department.
