SRINAGAR: District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary reviewed the progress achieved under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin and Urban) and outlined the further roadmap for sustainability.
In rural areas 29 Panchayats have achieved 100% achievement of physical construction of 9168 toilets which include 8 panchayats in Rajouri, 5 in Thannamandi, 4 in Kalakote, 2 each in Darhal, Dhangri, Doongi and Plagarh blocks while one each in Budhal, Rajnagar, Manjakote and Panjgrain. Meanwhile a total of 91762 toilets have been constructed in the district under SBM-Grameen while out of 1783 IHHL units started in urban areas 1456 have been completed.
The panchayats which have achieved 100% completion of work of IHHL units include Koteranka, Phalni, Chowkian-A, Thanamang-A, Dhangri, Badhoon-A, Dhara Sanwla, Thathyali, Barmandal, Brevi, Dalyote-B, Syalsui, Naili, Kakora Middle, Dodasan Bala lower, Khabblan-B, Aitti, Chhawa, Choudhary Nar, Fatehpur Gujjaran, Mehari Gujjaran, Raithal, Sankari, Sawni, Hasplote proper, Khanyalkote, Mangota B.
The DDC informed that teams headed by senior district officers have been constituted to physically inspect IHHL units and verify the quality of works. He directed the BDOs to conduct extensive inspections and elicit public participation for sustainability of SBM by ensuring use of such units and directed to guard against acting in haste to declare ODF.
District administration endeavours to achieve ODF status in May 2018 and a drive for sustainability of sanitation. As of now 88% units have been physically completed and 67% Geo-Tagged and uploaded along with photographs. More than 200 panchayats in district have registered 90% to 97% physical progress of construction of IHHL units and are likely to achieve absolute coverage next week.
The DDC announced that district-wide Gram Sabhas will be held in 2nd week of May for public scrutiny of IHHL units, quality of works, coverage of families and public verification of 100% coverage after completion of the official inspections.
