ANANTNAG: The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag , Mohammad Younis Malik on Thursday visited Mattan temple to review the arrangements for month long Baanmas Festival celebrations (religious prayers for forefathers) which will be held from 15th May, 2018 to 15th June, 2018.
The DDC directed the officers of health, municipality, CA&PD and engineers of PHE, R&B and PDD to ensure all necessary arrangements for the Pandit community and the devotees. The DDC asked for making arrangements with regard to drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, proper sanitation establishment of medical aid camps and deployment of doctors and paramedical staff with life saving drugs. He also directed AD & CAPD to ensure adequate supply of essentials like rice, sugar, atta and kerosene oil for the devotees, a handout read.
The incharge temple committee Mattan, Basker Bawani put forth some demands relating to the smooth conduct of festival being celebrated from 15th May, 2018 to 15th June,2018 and said that religious prayer/tribute is paid to the forefathers by the Kashmiri Pandits residing in valley and outside the valley.
