Anantnag: District Hospital Anantnag organised a free medical and screening camp for children under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) at Larnoo, Anantnag on Wednesday. A large number of school children attended the camp.
RBSK is a new initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 Ds – defects at birth, deficiencies, diseases, development delays including disability.
District Development Commissioner, AnantnagMohammad Younis Malik, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that aim of organising the camp is to provide free medicines and lab tests of the school children suffering from various ailments including cardiac, vitamin A, vitamin-D, deficiency, sever acute malnutrition, and vision impairment. He hailed the efforts of the health department for conducting the awareness cum health screening camp at this remote area.
The Mission Director, National Health Mission, Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Deputy Superintendent M&CCH Anantnag, BMO Larnoo, who is also the Nodal Officer RBSK informed the parents and children about the importance of organizing the camp. They stated that school children suffering from vision Impairment, hearing Impairment, neuro-motor Impairment, motor delay, cognitive delay, language delay, behaviour disorder (Autism) and Learning disorder are being screened in the camp. Moreover, all lab tests will be conducted free.
Free medicines including albendazole, vitamin-A, vitamin-D, multivitamins and Antibiotics were distributed among the school children. Moreover, free health check-up, x-ray, ECG and other lab tests were conducted during the camp.
