SRINAGAR: J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar has denounced the video speech of Ankur Sharma, the defence lawyer of the accused in Kathua rape and murder case in which he has not only praised the Hindu Ekta Manch but has also appealed Hindus for boycotting Muslim nomadic communities of Gujjar and Bakerwals by telling them to not purchase milk or any other dairy product from them.
Bar in a statement said the lawyer is trying to promote enmity and spread hatred between two groups on the grounds of religion, race, and place of residence and language, which besides being unethical and immoral, is also a cognisable offence punishable up to ten years of imprisonment.
Bar Association also strongly condemned the ransacking and damaging of residential houses of Bona-Mohalla and Sheikh Mohalla of Murran, Pulwama during night hours allegedly by government forces, and dragging out nine local youth from their beds in a semi naked condition and detaining them after getting thrashed.
The Association termed it a “worst kind of brutality” and violation of human rights and fundamental freedom of the people of Kashmir. It has sought an immediate end to all these happenings.
Bar also expressed grief over the demise of the wife of Ghulam Mohammad Safi of Sopore, who passed away a few days back in Pakistan.
