Ganderbal: The Srinagar-Leh Highway connecting Ladakh region with the Kashmir Valley Wednesday reopened after remaining closed for five days due to fresh snowfall and snowslides last week.
“We have resumed traffic on the 434 km long Srinagar-Leh highway,” a traffic police official said.
They said the traffic was suspended on the highway following fresh snowfall and slippery road conditions, particularly between Sonamarg, Zojila pass, Zero point, Meenmarg and Drass.
Several light motor vehicles and trucks from Drass side were allowed towards Sonamarg in the morning around 5:00 AM, he said, adding that the vehicles from Sonamarg were allowed to move towards Kargil later in the day.
