Security restrictions annoy tourists
Sonamarg: Bollywood star Salman Khan arrived at tourist resort Sonamarg on Monday evening for a two-day shooting schedule of Remo D’Souza directed movie Race 3.
Sonamarg is hosting Salman for the second time. The actor, who had shot for Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan in the picturesque Sonamarg and Pahalgam in 2015, is back in the Valley after three years.
Locals as well as tourists were, however, irked by the security arrangements by police for Khan, as they found themselves barred from Sonamarg’s most famous Thajwas Glacier.
“Due to film shooting, they are not allowing us to go ahead to Thajwas Glacier. Police are telling us that they can’t allow anyone to glacier area due to security reasons as the Salman Khan film shooting is going there,” a tourist from Mumbai said. “We have come from Mumbai after spending so much money, but this is what we get here.”
Films are shot in every part of India but in Kashmir film shooting means restrictions, he added.
A local hotelier said that restrictions at tourist resort can spoil the tourist season.
“A superstar can no doubt help in promoting tourism of Kashmir but a common tourist of India is real ambassador and can help more than a superstar,” he said.
Excited fans of the actor who arrived in Sonamarg early in the morning from several areas of Kashmir were not allowed to the shooting site by the police.
The film is scheduled to be released around the Eid festival on 15 June.
Khan is likely to shoot for the movie in Ladakh after completing the schedule in Sonamarg.
Besides Khan, Race 3 will also feature Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem.
