JAMMU: The J&K High Court Legal Services Committee under the Patronage of the Chief Justice (Acting) High Court of J&K (Patron in Chief, J&K State Legal Services Authority) and guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey Judge High Court of J&K Chairman High Court Legal Services Committee organized National Lok Adalat at both the wings of the High Court Jammu and Srinagar on 22 April, 2018, a statement said.
In Jammu wing of the High Court 02 Benches were constituted, whereas, at Srinagar wing of High Court 03 Benches were constituted.
7 cases of MACT, 1 SWP Matter and 5 cases of Bank recovery (Pre-Litigation) were settled by both the wings of High Court. They also compensation awarded Rs 45.92 lacs.
A National Lok Adalat comprising 4 benches was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz Hussain in Bandipora District.
Six hundred ninety nine cases relating to civil, criminal, matrimonial, bank suits and other matters were taken up, out of which 110 cases settled amicably. A settlement amount of Rs 675350 was awarded under various bank cases during the Lok Adalat.
Three benches were established at District Court Complex Bandipora which were presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge Bandipora Syed Sarfaraz, Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora Raja Mohammad Tasleem and Munsif Bandipora Iqbal Ahmad Aakhoon respectively.
Lok Adalat at Court Complex Sumbal was chaired by Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sumbal Manzoor Hussain Chowdhery.
Meanwhile a National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of District court complex Shopian under the chairmanship of Ashok Kumar Shavana Chairman District Legal Service Authority Shopian, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Shopian, SS Bali and secretary District Legal Services Authority Shopian, Lubna Sultan.
During the proceedings, nine benches were constituted for taking up cases of matrimonial act, land acquisition, criminal compoundable, electricity bills, bank recovery, etc.
During National Lok Adalat 381 cases of different nature including Pre-Litigation were taken up, out of which 186 cases has been settled by Mediation and reconciliation.
An amount of Rs 53750 has been recovered as fine and same has been deposited in Government Treasury. However, Rs 50000 were realized from defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides that, an amount of Rs 4153800 was also realized in different cases, which was paid to the beneficiaries.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopain Parvaiz Sajad Ganie, SDM Zainapora, Bar member’s litigants, staff members, Senior District Officers of District Administration and other prominent citizens attended the Lok Adalat.
Similarly, National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Anantnag in which 357 cases of different nature were solved amicably, in two seprate benches.
The first bench consisted of CJM Anantnag and Munsif while as second bench consisted of District Mobile Magistrate Anantnag and a senior advocate.
On the occasion, Rs. 55800 were recovered against the electric and traffic chalans while as Rs. 338017 were recovered as bank recovery.
A similar Lok Adalat was held at Bijbehara also were 40 cases of different nature were solved amicably.
In order to provide free legal services, facilitate amicable settlement of the disputes and reduce pendency of cases in courts, National Lok Adalat was held at Court Complex Baramulla.
The National Lok Adalat was organised by District Legal Service Authority Baramulla under the chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Rajesh Shikri, who is the chairman of the District Legal Service Authority.
The Lok Adalat was presided by Ist Additional District Judge Baramulla Jeema Bashir where as Sub Judge Baramulla Khursheed-ul-Islam was also present during the Lok Adalat.
As many as 152 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, comprising of civil and Revenue cases. 90 cases were settled amicably on the spot beside Rs 3500000 was realized as the settlement amount.
Meanwhile, National Lok Adalat was also organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sopore in Court Complex which comprised of three different benches. The first bench was presided by Additional District Judge Shazia Tabasum, second bench presided by Chief Judicial Magistrate Masarat Roohi while as the third one was presided by District Mobile Magistrate Jehangir Bakshi.
On the occasion, 430 cases of various natures including Criminal, Bank cases, MACT cases, Matrimonial, Revenue were taken into account during which 403 cases were settled on spot. Moreover, Rs 24.90 lakh was realized as settlement amount besides an amount of Rs 1.10 lakh as fine on various cases.
Similarly, another National Lok Adalat was organized in the premises of Tehsil Court Complex uri under the chairmanship of Sub-judge Uri Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, who is also the chairman Tehsil legal Services authority. As many as 78 cases of various natures were taken up in which 32 cases were settled amicably on the spot beside Rs 81,300 was realized as the settlement amount.
