PULWAMA: Traffic police seized a government vehicle and challaned 40 other in Pulwama district on Saturday for violation of traffic rules.
A government vehicle (Jeep) bearing registration number JK01A-9695 belonging to SDD department Pulwama has been seized for want of documents.
Eighteen tippers and 22 light motor vehicles were among the forty vehicles challans.
DYSP Traffic, Pulwama and Shopian, Sheikh Mudasir said that all the vehicles have been served court challans for the violators and a compound fine of Rs 5400 was recovered from the violators. He told Kashmir Reader that a drive against traffic violations, rash driving and overloading has been launched by traffic police.
“The drive against traffic violators will continue in future as well,” he said. “I am requesting the general public that all vehicle owners particularly the private ones should readily provide their documents, and the public transporters must shun the practice of overloading or face the law,” Mudasi said.
