SRINAGAR: Police on Friday morning arrested the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik from his Maisuma residence and shifted him to police station Kothi Bagh, a party spokesperson said.
The spokesperson in a statement condemned Malik’s arrest, saying that it has become a new normal for police to detain JKLF chairman every now and then.
He said this police practice has worsened after the recent announcement of DG Police who claimed that the resistance leadership is free to carry out political activities.
“The spineless rulers and their authorities are (so much) scared of resistance leadership and their popularity among masses that they find no courage to allow them any space and feel only safe in caging them every now and then,” the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, JKLF chief has termed the demise of renowned cardiologist Dr Sajad Reshi as a big loss to Kashmiri nation.
“In him, we have lost a selfless friend and invaluable human being,” Malik said in a statement.
Paying tributes to Dr Sajad, Malik said he has lost a selfless brother, a close friend, a caring doctor and a prudent adviser who in hot and cold weathers stood firmly behind him and cared about his health and wellbeing. “Doctor Sahib’s demise is a personal loss and today I feel like (becoming) orphan again,” Malik said.
