Swachhta Day Celebrations marked in Samba

SAMBA: District administration Samba on Thursday organized various activities to mark the Swachhta Day celebrations across the district.
The sensitization drive was kick started at village Diani by initiating works of toilets of left out households for declaring panchayat open defecation free by Member Legislative Assembly, Samba Dr. D.K. Manyal and District Development Commissioner S. Rajinder Singh Tara.
Speaking on the occasion D.K. Manyal asked people to actively participate in the programme and fulfil the oath taken for maintenance of personal hygiene, community sanitation and use of latrines
Programmes were also held in various institutions and health institutions where clean up campaign was launched in all the hospitals, schools and aanganwadi centres across the district to ensure complete sanitation. Trees were planted in the hospital campuses in district to promote a clean and green campus.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Rajinder Singh asked them be the harbingers of change for dedicated action and efforts to make the district open defecation free besides bringing about positive change in the mindsets of people towards cleanliness of neighborhood and surroundings.
Later in the day the DDC held a media interaction and asked the media fraternity to help disseminate mass awareness about Gram SwarajAbhiyaan so that people avail maximum benefit of the programme . The details of special saturation camps was shared with media for close coordination between district administration and media for achieving tangible results on ground.
