PAMPORE: The Imam of the central Jamia Masjid of Kishtwar and the Markazi Seerat Committee of Doda have called for a complete shutdown and public protests on Friday over the rape and murder of the 8-year-old Gujjar girl in Jammu’s Kathua district. The shutdown call has been given by.
While talking to Kashmir Reader, the Imam of Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Farooq Hussain Kichloo, said that he hoped all people in the district would follow the shutdown call irrespective of religion. “The people of Kishtwar have always followed the call of humanity,” he said, adding that he has also called for a peaceful protest march after Friday congregational prayers from the Jamia Masjid to the bus stand.
Meanwhile, hundreds of students in Kishtwar protested against the Kathua rape and murder on Thursday. Students of Al Hilal Educational Institute took pout a rally in Kishtwar town to demand justice for the raped and murdered 8-year-old girl, local sources said. They said that the students carried placards calling for justice to the victim.
