Anantnag: A lavatory block was on Wednesday dedicated by IRP 17 battalion to Govt school Wantrag Mattan under civic action programme.
At a gathering held at Govt High School Wantrag, Mattan, CO IRP-17 battalion Roop Raj Bhagat inaugurated the lavatory block in presence of the school headmaster Manzoor Naseem, students and other senior citizens of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagat assured the students of every possible help in future for realizing their dreams, a statement said.
Further, he reiterated that Civic Action Programme is an initiative of the Police Department to involve Police in development-oriented activities so as to foster closer ties between Police and Public, the statement added.
The statement also reads that school staff and the students thanked Bhagat for the initiative.
“Respectable citizens of the area including local Auqaf Committee Member Bashir Ahmad Khan and Pashtoo member Mohammad Yaqoob who also attended the event thanked the CO for providing such a facility and assured of every possible cooperation with the police department,”the statement reads.
Other officers of the battalion including DySp Mohammad Shafi, DySP Rukhsar Ahmad, DySP Omar, RI Sardari Lal were present on the occasion.
Driver arrested in hit and run case on Chanapora bypass arrested
Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested a truck driver involved in hit and run case on Chanapora bypass in which one person died.
A police statement said that a few days back Srinagar police circulated news item in print & social media regarding the identification of truck involved in hit & run case.
“Photographs of the truck involved in the case were obtained from the CCTV footage and accordingly circulated for identification & help was sought from the general public,”the statement said.
“The circulation of news item along with photographs of truck proved very useful & finally led to the identification of the said truck with registration no JK13D 5118 and was accordingly seized and driver was arrested,” statement added.
A case FIR 49/2018 under section 279, 337, 304-A RPC was registered in Police Station Sadder and investigation was started.
