#Kathua: Authorities shut IUST after protests, clashes

Srinagar: Authorities on Wednesday suspended class work in the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) after intense clashes erupted between protesting students and government forces.
Witnesses said that police personnel used tear smoke shells to keep students from venturing out of the campus who pelted rocks on them.
Later when the clashes intensified the university administration suspended class work for the day however the clashes were yet to die down.
The student community of Kashmir is protesting against the gruesome rape and murder of an eight year old girl in Kathua area of Jammu division.
