JU holds all JK Sanskrit teachers, scholars meet

JAMMU: Jammu University on Tuesday held the All J&K Sanskrit teachers & scholars meet here at Sanskrit PG Department of the varsity.

Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Dr Asgar Samoon presided over the meet.

Registrar, Jammu University, Meenakshi Kilam, HoDs and faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Luminaries and scholars of Sanskrit language & literature spoke and laid emphasis on preservation and promotion of Sanskrit language being the oldest classical link with rich heritage in vast spheres of knowledge, science and literature, a university release read.

Dr Samoon highlighted endeavours of higher education department being implemented to preserve and promote various regional languages of the state. He also mentioned about publishing of quarterly research journal in Sanskrit language “Vamagmaya Gauram” by state higher education department.

The programme was first of its kind in the state which was hailed by all the scholars and luminaries in general and Sanskrit scholars in particular.
