SRINAGAR: J&K Bank Football Team and J&K Bank Football Academy played 1-1 draw in a match of ongoing first Mufti Mohammad Sayeed (MMS) Memorial Football Tournament played at Synthetic Turf TRC in Srinagar on Monday. As the play started, the forward lines of both the teams failed to breach the defence lines of each other in the first half. The goal keepers of both the teams made some exceptional saves. The high speed and quality football displayed by the two teams mesmerised the spectators, who had thronged the venue in huge numbers. It was difficult for them to choose their favourite team as both the teams belong to the J&K Bank. The second half also proved to be nail biting as no team was ready to give even an inch to the opposite side. In the closely contested match, forwards of both the teams attacked each other’s goal post from both the flanks. In 46th minute of the match, AakifJaved of JK Bank Team scored the goal for his team. Trailing by a goal, the Bank Academy players launched several counter attacks on the opposite goalpost. AhteebShafi of Bank Academy scored a goal for his team in 76th minute of the play thus equalising the score. However, as the referee blew the final whistle, the score line read 1-1. AhteebShafi was declared as player of the match for his brilliant performance. He was given Rs 1000 cash and a memnto. The matches of MMSM tournament are also going on at other venues of Jammu region. While in Kashmir region, first and the second leg of the event, being organised by the JK Football Association (JKFA) under the sponsorship of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
