KATHUA: In order to sensitise women about the schemes being implemented by Jammu and Kashmir State Women’s Development Corporation, a mega awareness camp-cum loan-mela was organised at Govt Girls High School, Bani, Kathua by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
The camp was inaugurated by MLA, Bani, Jeevan Lal. Managing Director, Women’s Development Corporation, Dr Naheed Soz in her welcome address highlighted various activities and achievements of Women’s Development Corporation which has immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women, an official release read.
Naheed laid thrust on the importance of Miniature Painting and Basholi Shawls and its market availability through the exhibitions conducted by WDC within and outside the state and requested the participants to come forward and to avail the benefits of the schemes of WDC for their self reliance, it read.
She also threw light on the issues related to the rights of women, health, nutrition, female foeticide, Beti Bachao Beti Padeao, domestic violation and Swach Bharat Abiyan and skill development, etc.
Students of Govt Girls High School were especially made aware about the educational loan scheme being implemented by JKWDC, it added.
