SHOPIAN: After two policemen, both from Shopian, and a Territorial Army man from Pulwama joined militant ranks in 2017, yet another case of an army man joining militant ranks has surfaced in Shopian.
Idrees Sultan Mir, son of Muhammad Sultan Mir, a resident of Safnagri village of Shopian district, apparently joined the ranks of Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday. A photograph of Idrees holding an assault rifle and his bio-data printed on the photo began doing rounds on social media on Monday morning.
“He was on official leave at home and was missing since a day before. He may have joined militant ranks,” a police official said on Monday.
Idrees was in the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI).
