Pampore: Scores of people in Saffron town Pampore on Sunday evening held a candlelight protest at Municipal Committee park Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The protesters were demanding justice for eight-year-old girl Asifa who was brutally raped and murdered in Rasana village of Jammu’s Kathua district.
On January 17, the body of a minor girl was found in the forests near Rasana village. The girl was missing for a week.
People, especially youth were seen holding placards depicting different messages, calling for justice in the case of rape and murder.
The protesters demanded stern punishment to the culprits to the extent that no one dares to do such an act. “This has brought shame to the state especially to those who support the rapists and stood along with them,” said a protester. Later the protest ended peacefully.
