Handwara: All Jammu and Kashmir Tribal Students Association staged a protest in Handwara Chowk on Saturday against the brutal rape and murder case of a minor girl in Kathua.
The protest was led by Association President Shaheen Ahmad Bajad and General Secretary Fareed Ahmad Khatana. Awami Itihaad Party senior worker Khursheed Ahmad Dar also joined the protests.
They shouted slogans demanding fair disposal of the case and denounced political backing to the accused persons in the case. They termed the protest of Kathua advocates in favour of the accused as a “black mark on their judicial identity”.
“We condemn the attacks on our community in Jammu and damage to their property. We also request the government who in true words has failed to protect the Muslim majority and particularly youth of the valley, if it can, to provide protection to all the minorities in the state,” they said.
