Thousands attend funeral prayers of slain Amir in Kangan; Geelani addresses mourners

Thousands of mourners on Sunday participated in the last rites of slain Amir Ahmad Lone who succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS today morning.
Amir Hamid Lone (22) son of Abdul Hamid Lone, a resident of Chuturgul Kangan was critically injured in police shelling on civilian protesters in Kangan which erupted after the killing of another civilian Gowhar Ahmad Rather.
Gowhar was also injured in police shelling on civilian protesters and had suffered grievous injuries after which he was treated at SKIMS Srinagar.
Eyewitnesses said amid pro-freedom, pro-Islamic and anti-India slogans, Amir was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Chuturgul while men, women, children and old participated in his funeral procession at his native Chuturgul village of Ganderbal district.
Locals sources said told Kashmir Reader about 15000 people attended funeral prayers of the slain youth.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani addressed the funeral procession telephonically. In his address, Geelani paid tributes to the slain youth.
