Fearing student protests, authorities suspend classwork in a few colleges, HS Schools

Fearing student protests, the Government on Sunday decided to suspend the class work in some colleges and higher secondary schools across Kashmir on Monday.
Sources said that the decision was taken in view of the recent civilian killings and the consequent student protests. “The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure.”
In Srinagar, the order will extend to Amar Singh College and Women’s college.
Both the colleges witnessed massive student protests after militant and civilian killings in Shopian.
In Baramulla, government Degree College Sopore and Boys higher secondary school Sopore will remain closed for students only while teachers have to report to their institutions.
Similarly, the district administration Kupwara has decided to suspend class work at Government Degree College Kupwara, Handwara and Higher secondary school Handwara, Langate and Kralgund. In Shopian Degree College will remain shut.
The district administration Ganderbal has decided to suspend classwork in all higher secondary schools and degree colleges of the district.
