Srinagar: Traffic on the Highway, connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir valley, was again suspended on Saturday due to slippery road conditions.
However, the 86-km-long historic Mughal road was through for one-way traffic while light vehicle traffic will ply on Srinagar-Jammu Highway from both sides and heavy vehicles would continue to ply on one-side only, a traffic police official told UNI.
He said the Srinagar-Leh Highway, particularly at Zojila, has become very slippery early this morning due to drop in the mercury during night. After some vehicles, which were allowed from Drass, got stuck due to slip due to which traffic was suspended on the highway, he said, adding as the day progresses and weather improves, traffic would be resumed, subject to condition of the road.
He said one-way light vehicle traffic was allowed on historic Mughal road, linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region. Today traffic will ply from Rajouri and Poonch to Shopian and no vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction.
