JAMMU: Director Agriculture, Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan on Friday stressed on the need to adopt multiple cropping systems with vegetable cultivation and application of latest technologies to achieve the goal of ‘doubling the farmer’s income’.
He was interacting with farmers in Majua Uttami, Chak Chimna, Bhagwana Chak, Rehal, Chak Hassal and adjoining areas of RS Pura.
According to an official handout, Razdan advised the farmers to increase their farm income through adoption of multiple cropping and technological interventions. He directed the field functionaries to “make all out efforts to popularise such innovative concepts to increase agriculture production per unit area.”
He also assessed the general condition of current Rabi crops including wheat, fodder and vegetable crops.
He praised the efforts of a local progressive farmer, who has raised cucumber as fourth crop in the cropping sequence of Maize-Paddy-Potato-Cucumber at Majua Uttami on the same field.
