Stranded passengers rescued

POONCH: A joint team of Mughal road authority, police and army on Thursday rescued 300 passengers who were stranded on Mughal road.
The vehicles got stranded approximately 4 km away from Pir ki Gali on the Mughal Road due to heavy snowfall and avalanche. On receiving the calls from passengers, DC Poonch rushed the Mughal Road authorities’ along with machinery to clear the debris dumped on the road due to avalanche.
For safe rescue of the passengers, a joint party of Police, Mughal Road authority and the army was rushed to the spot, a statement said.
The statement added that the rescue team trekked 8 km before getting access to the stranded passengers.
The operation was supervised by SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey and DC Poonch has directed the Mughal Road authorities to expedite the avalanche clearance works and clear the road at the earliest.
