Shopian boy had ‘told his family to prepare for his funeral’

SHOPIAN: A 9th-standard student who was killed by government forces near the Khuwani gunfight site on Wednesday was laid to rest at Melhora village of Shopian at his ancestral graveyard amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Fazil Ahmad Elahi, son of Ghulam Muhammad Elahi, had been shot in neck and chest by the government forces near Khudwani encounter site during clashes between forces and people.
Fazil was a 9th grade student at Arwani high school and left his home early in the morning to head towards Khudwani village where a gunfight between militants and government forces was underway.
Family sources told Kashmir Reader that when Fazil left home in the morning, he told his parents to start preparations for his funeral. Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Reader that Fazil has one bullet injury on neck and another on chest.
Thousands of people attended the four rounds of funeral prayers for Fazil. Emotional scenes were witnessed during the funeral where several women fainted.
Candies and flowers were also showered on the body of slain before burial. Youngest among the siblings, Fazil is survived by four sisters, a brother and his parents.
