Srinagar: Dukhtaran Millat chief Asiya Andrabi Tuesday expressed surprise and anger over filing of an FIR in Soura Police station against eight women who were arrested in Pinglana, Pulwama.
In a statement issued here, Asiya wondered how a case can be registered in Soura against the women who were walking in Pulwama. She said that these women are being remanded in a fake FIR.
“It proves that Jammu and Kashmir is under jungle raj. The arrested women have small kids waiting for them at home. Among the arrested are small girls who are students but remain incarcerated for the past three days without any crime,” she said.
She said that the family members of the women are being declined a report about the case.
“It is matter of grave concern. What kind of law is in practice in JK?” she said.
She also expressed anguish over the “chaining of the detained women while they were brought to court on Monday”.
