Baramulla: Forest Protection Force (FPF) on Tuesday seized a vehicle carrying illicit timber in Baramulla area of north Kashmir.
FPF officials said that after a tip-off a team of department laid several check posts in Kanlibagh area of Baramulla on Monday evening and during checking several fresh timber logs were recovered from a Santro car which was on way to the main town Baramulla from Sangri forest range.
Two persons including the driver of the car escaped from the spot after taking advantage of darkness. Officials seized the car along with timber.
The car was without documents and it was the fourth car which was seized during anti- timber smuggling operations in Baramulla, officials said.
Meanwhile, residents said that some forest officials are in hand in glove with the timber smugglers.
