Srinagar: Students and employees of Kashmir University (KU) on Tuesday appealed Transport department to start a new sumo service from Parimpora to Hazratbal for easing the travel of university goers.
They said that they face a lot of problems in travelling to university daily.
The Employees and students of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora who visit Kashmir university regularly told Kashmir reader that they reach the campus late due to transport mess.
“A bus takes two hours to reach Hazratbal. It halts at a number of places, causing hardships to us”, Neelofar, a student said adding, “we have to take overcrowded buses to reach the university as we don’t have any options.”
Neelofar, a student told Kashmir Reader that they brought the issue into the notice of the concerned authorities several times but they have yet to fulfil our demands.
“The authorities have to take the issue seriously. It is a matter of career of thousands of students. From the day bus terminal was shifted to Parimpora, we miss our first class,” she said.
Echoing similar views another PhD scholar, Rashid said, “We are supposed to reach university at 10 am, but we reach at 11 am or at 12 pm.”
When contacted Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Khursheed Ahmad Shah said, “the concerned students should come to my office and give me the representation about the timing and the area where from they need this service,” he said.
“I will resolve their issue as soon as possible but once they will give me the representation.”
