KU students hold protests against Kulgam killings, demand justice in Kathua rape & murder case

Srinagar: The students of Kashmir University on Wednesday held massive protests inside the varsity campus against the civilian killings in Kulgam and in favor of the Kathua minor girl.
Witnesses said that as the news of the killings spread, the students from various departments assembled outside the Humanities block of the Kashmir University and staged a protest.


The students marched towards the administrative block while chanting pro-freedom slogans and anti-India.
The students later, as per schedule, also held a protest demonstration demanding justice for the Kathua minor girl Asifa who was raped and murdered in a temple.
The students demanded that the case should be shifted to Kashmir and justice should be delivered at the earliest. They demanded that the case be concluded on fast track basis. The students were carrying the banners of Kashmir University Students Union.
Pertinently, four civilians were killed and around 50 sustained injuries after clashes erupted between civilian protesters and government forces near the gunfight site at Khudwani area of Kulgam district.
Witnesses said that forces resorted to firing, pellet-firing and tear gas shelling against the stone pelting civilian protesters who were trying to disrupt the government force’s operation against the holed up militants.
