47 civilians injured in Kulgam clashes: Hospitals

Srinagar: At least 47 civilians have sustained injuries in government force’s actions in Khudwani area of Kulgam district on Wednesday where a fierce gunfight between militants and forces was underway.
Soon after the gunfight started in south Kashmir hundreds of protesters pelted rocks on forces to disrupt their operation and help hold up militants escape.
“We have received 43 injured so far,” Chief Medical Officer, (CMO) Kulgam Dr Gulzar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
He added that 3 with pellet injuries and 1 with bullet injury have been referred to Srinagar hospitals for advanced treatment.
7 injured civilians were brought to Sub District Hospital Bijbehara.
Medical Superintendent, Bijbehara Dr Shawkat Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that they have referred 4 out of them to Srinagar.
Intense clashes were still going on in Khudwani area between protesters and government forces.
