SRINAGAR: Residents of Suthran and Mukhuma of Beerwah and Khag tehsil of district Budgam on Monday protested against the Public Health Engineering (P.H.E) department demanding proper water supply line in the area.
Scores of residents of these two villages assembled here in press enclave and raised slogans against the PHE officials of Budgam district.
Abdul Rashid Lone of Suthran area of Khag tehsil said, “ Water is supplied to our village through a damaged pipeline which was installed by the government 40 years before. From last three months, we are getting irregular water supply. We have already visited so many times to the concerned department and requested them to issue a new pipeline in the area. But the department is neglecting our demand.”
Ghulam Nabi Dar, Resident of Makhuma area of Beerwah has a similar tale to tell, “the government has sanctioned a water supply pipeline in the year 2013. The government had sanctioned water supply line for the three Kms area and in four years only 1.5 km have been laid. We have been knocking the door of PHE authorities again and again but they don’t pay heed to solve the issue.”
