SHOPIAN: Hizb militant who was injured in shoot out with government forces on 29 of March at Ahgam village is under treatment and police observation.
Asif Ahmad Malik resident of Krawoora village of Shopian who joined Hizb cadre last year sustained bullet injury when their group according to police attacked an Army’s Mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) near Ahgam village and in retaliation of forces he got bullet injury, has undergone a surgery at SKIMS last month after he escaped from the encounter site and was rushed to SKIMS in the intervening night of 29 and 30 March.
Soon after the shootout at the spot a photograph of injured Asif went viral on social media. Hizb commander Sadam Padder, Adil Malik and Bilal Mohand were seen accompanying him in the photograph.
Shopian police head, Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar told Kashmir Reader that police have not arrested the slain militant yet. “He is under police observation at SKIMS but we have not arrested him yet,” he said.
When asked about the rumours about escaping of militant from hospital or has been shifted to army hospital, Dinkar replaied in negative. “He (Asif) has not escaped from the hospital. He is undergoing treatment at SKIMS,” he said.
Two days after Asif was injured, Hizb lost 12 men of its outfit in two different encounters in district Shopian. Four civilians were also killed in the encounters among them two were residents of district Shopian while as two other were the residents of neighbouring district Kulgam.
