Restrictions in Srinagar areas lifted

Srinagar: Curfew-like restrictions imposed on Friday in the Srinagar areas were lifted on Saturday though large number of government force and state police personnel remained deployed to “maintain law and order”.
There are no restrictions in any part of the Srinagar on Saturday, police said.
The authorities had imposed Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of police station Nowhatta, M R Gunj, Safa Kadal, Rainawari and Khanyar areas on Friday to prevent any “law and order problem”.
The shops and business establishments are open and traffic was plying on all routes. Routine life has resumed in other parts of the valley except Shopian district where 12 militants and 4 civilians were killed in force’s action on April 1. Restrictions remained in force in Pulwama town where a local militant was killed in a brief shootout with government forces last evening. Normal life was also paralised in Kangan where a youth was killed at the hands of police.
Educational institutions upto tenth class were also working normally today while Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges remained closed.
