Clashes erupt in village
Shopian: Government forces on Friday killed Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Kangun village of Pulwama district leading to clashes in the village.
The slain Musavvir Ahmad, a Hizbul Mujahideen recruit, a resident of Delipora Pulwama was killed in the afternoon.
SSP Pulwama Muhammad Aslam Choudhary told Kashmir Reader that forces’ patrol party was fired upon in Kangun village of the district. He said that the forces retaliated to the fire and in the exchange of fire a militant was killed.
He said that one AK-47 rifle; one SLR gun and some incriminating documents were recovered from the site of the killing.
Local sources said that three militants were caught in the exchange of fire; however, two of them managed to escape.
Later, as the news about the militant’s killing spread in the area, people took to the streets and held massive pro-militant, pro-freedom and anti-government protests.
Local sources said that clashes erupted in main town Pulwama and in Kangun village where the militant was killed.
