Ganderbal: A miss communication between District administration Ganderbal and Border Roads organization. (BRO) took place on Friday over opening of the Srinagar-Leh highway.
BRO officials said Srinagar-Leh highway has been opened for vehicular traffic today, however district administration Ganderbal said order in this regard was not issued by Div Com Kashmir.
The highway connecting Ladakh region to the rest of Jammu and Kashmir was officially re-opened for traffic on Friday BRO officials said.
They said the highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic during a function attended by Chinar Corps Lt General AK Bhatt, chief engineer beacon project Brigadier Vishal Agarwal and other BRO officials.
However officials in the District Administration Ganderbal said the Srinagar-Leh is not officially opened for vehicular traffic.
When contacted Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla told Kashmir Reader that there are reports doing round about opening of Srinagar-Leh highway. “Our office has not received anything in this regard so the highway can’t be officially opened until order to this effect is issued by Div Com Kashmir,” DC added.
