Srinagar: Following the students protrest, the government on Thursday decided to close educational institutions in the Valley. It also announced restrictions to be imposed in Srinagar’s Downtown on Friday as a precautionary measure.
An official told GNS that classwork in all schools and colleges in Baramulla, Srinagar, Handwara, Ganderbal and in all districts of south Kashmir shall remain suspended on Friday.
Quiting the anonymous official, it said, complete restrictions will be imposed in Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Safakadal, MR Gunj and partially in Maisuma and Kralkhud police stations in Srinagar today.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan in the backdrop of student’s protests in the Valley.
A Kashmir University spokesperson said that all Kashmir University examinations scheduled on Friday are postponed while classwork will remain suspended today. Fresh dates for the examinations shall be notified separately, it said.
“Furthermore, class-work at the university shall also remain suspended on Friday,” it added.
