Srinagar: Government forces resorted to tear gas firing and counter stone pelting after protesting students clashed with them in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar on Thursday.
The student protests (both boys and girls) started in Regal Chowk however, the protesting students were chased away who re-assembled near Amira Kadal area of Lal Chowk and hurled rocks on forces.
The routine was affected in the business hub of the summer capital as tension roused high.
Earlier, the students of Islamia College, Srinagar also held protests and clashed with government forces in the old city area.
Meanwhile, College students of Handwara also held massive protests and clashed with forces resulting in injuries to at least three protesters
The educational institutions of the valley resumed their work today after three days.
The said institutions remained shut in wake of the killings of 13 militants and 4 civilians in south Kashmir on Sunday last.
