Baramulla: Around four thousand tourists visited Gulmarg on Wednesday and the figures were overwhelming on Tuesday as more than five thousand visitor’s thronged this tourist destination, officials said.
“Mesmerising snow clad mountains, lush green meadows, heart-warming hospitality of people tells a different story altogether. It has been a pleasant experience worth reliving again and again,” said Anand, a tourist from Pune, Maharashtra.
Contrary to the negative perception created by certain sections of media, Kashmir is hosting tourists arriving from all over the globe. The long queues of tourists waiting to experience Gondola ride in Gulmarg validates this fact.
“We are here to explore the world famous afarwat mountains, taste the ice cold waters of seven springs, enjoy pony ride and relish sweet mouth-watering dishes of Kashmir,” said Linca, from Czech Republic.
As per estimates by authorities, almost twenty thousand locals are associated with the tourism industry in Gulmarg for their livelihood. Representatives of hoteliers, dhabawalas, ponywalas and others expressed gratitude towards administration for cooperation and timely redressal of their grievances for smooth conduct of tourist activities.
Meanwhile, CEO Gulmarg, Syed HaniefBalkhi, requested media for creating awareness regarding safety measures in place and facilities offered for encouraging flow of tourists. “It is our moral and collective responsibility to desist from spreading rumours or fake news and help contain it so that the paradise on earth keeps shining with peace and prosperity,” said Balkhi.
